Physical Fitness Rules: Are You Ready?
Passing the written test is only half the battle. Because this is a police department job, you have to prove you are physically fit. You will need to clear both the Physical Standard Test (PST) and the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
Physical Standard Test (PST) Requirements
For the guys, if you fall under the UR or BC category, your minimum height needs to be 165 cms, with a chest measurement of 81-86 cms. For EBC and SC/ST male candidates, the height requirement drops slightly to 160 cms, though SC/ST candidates need a chest measurement of 79-84 cms.
For all the female candidates applying, the height requirement is a flat 155 cms across all categories. Additionally, female candidates must have a minimum body weight of 48 Kg.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Rules
This is where you actually have to break a sweat. Make sure you are practicing for these events daily:
- Running: Male candidates need to run 1.6 Kilometers within 6 minutes. Female candidates have to run 1 Kilometer in 5 minutes.
- High Jump: The bar is set at 4 feet for men and 3 feet for women.

What Happens on Exam Day?
The selection process starts with the Written Examination, which is an OMR-based offline test. You will need to bubble in your answers on a physical sheet. If you score well enough to make the cut-off, you will be called in for the physical tests (PET and PST) we discussed above. After clearing the physical rounds, the department will do a strict Document Verification to check your 12th mark sheets, caste certificates, and ID proofs. Finally, the commission will release the Final Merit List.
A quick tip for the exam day: Do not just carry your admit card. You absolutely must bring a valid, original government ID card like your Aadhar Card, PAN Card, or Voter ID. Bring two recent passport-size photographs just in case, and make sure you carry a good quality blue or black ballpoint pen for the OMR sheet. Reach the exam center at least an hour before the reporting time to avoid any last-minute panic.
