Full Details
Hello everyone! Are you planning to become a government teacher anytime soon? If yes, then I have some fantastic news for you today. The Central Board of Secondary Education, which we commonly call CBSE, has just dropped the official notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for the upcoming September 2026 session.
If you want to teach in central government schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVS) or Navodaya Vidyalaya (NVS), passing this exam is your very first step. Without a CTET certificate, applying for these top teaching jobs is simply not possible. In this post, I am going to share every single detail you need to know about the CTET September 2026 online form. We will talk about the dates you need to mark on your calendar, who can actually apply, how much fee you need to pay, and how to fill out your form perfectly online.
Important Exam Dates You Should Know
Let us talk about the timeline first. Missing a deadline is the worst thing that can happen to a serious student. The online application portal is officially opening on 11 May 2026. You will have exactly one month to complete your registration, upload your documents, and submit your form. I always advise my students not to wait for the very last day because website server issues are very common when thousands of people log in at once.
Mark These Dates:
- Online Application Starts: 11 May 2026
- Last Date to Apply: 10 June 2026
- Last Date to Pay Fee: 10 June 2026
- Form Correction Window: 15 June to 18 June 2026
- CTET Exam Date: 06 September 2026
- Admit Card Release: A few days before the exam
Application Fee Details
Next, let's look at the application fee. The fee structure depends completely on whether you are planning to write just one paper or both papers. If you want to teach primary classes (1 to 5), you give Paper I. If you want to teach upper primary classes (6 to 8), you give Paper II. Many candidates choose to give both to open up more job opportunities.
For Only One Paper (Paper-I OR Paper-II):
- General / OBC Candidates: ₹1000/-
- SC / ST / PWD Candidates: ₹500/-
For Both Papers (Paper-I AND Paper-II):
- General / OBC Candidates: ₹1200/-
- SC / ST / PWD Candidates: ₹600/-
Payment Mode: You can easily pay this fee online from your home using a Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, IMPS, or Mobile Wallets.
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
A lot of students get confused about the eligibility rules. Let me make it very simple for you. First of all, the good news is that there is absolutely no upper age limit to appear for the CTET exam as per CBSE rules. As long as you meet the educational requirements, you are fully eligible to apply.
For Level 1 (teaching primary classes from 1st to 5th standard), you must have passed your 12th board exams. Along with your 12th passing certificate, you need a recognized teaching diploma or degree like D.Ed, JBT, B.El.Ed, or a regular B.Ed.
For Level 2 (teaching upper primary classes from 6th to 8th standard), just passing the 12th class is not enough. You must have a complete Graduation degree in any stream. Plus, you need to have your B.Ed or B.El.Ed qualification completed or currently in the final year.
Post and Vacancy Details
Since the CTET is an eligibility test and not a direct job recruitment exam, there is no fixed number of job vacancies tied to this notification. You take this test to get a certificate, which you then use to apply for various teaching jobs whenever they are announced.
| Exam Level | Target Classes | Basic Eligibility |
|---|---|---|
| Paper-I | Class 1 to 5 (Primary) | 12th Pass + Teaching Diploma/Degree (D.Ed/JBT/B.Ed) |
| Paper-II | Class 6 to 8 (Upper Primary) | Graduation Degree + Teaching Degree (B.Ed/B.El.Ed) |
| Total Job Vacancies | Not Applicable (This is an Eligibility Certificate Test) | |
