RPSC RAS Salary Structure
Let's talk about the money. The Rajasthan Administrative Services offers excellent pay. According to the 7th Pay Commission, the basic pay ranges from Level 10 to Level 14 based on the specific post you get.
During the two-year probation period, an RAS officer receives a fixed monthly pay around ₹35,370. Once the probation ends, the starting in-hand salary jumps to somewhere between ₹61,000 and ₹66,000 per month, along with DA, HRA, and other government allowances.
Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The journey to becoming an RAS officer involves three tough but manageable stages:
- Prelims Exam: This is a qualifying screening test. It consists of 150 objective-type questions carrying 200 marks. You get 3 hours to finish it. Be careful, as there is a negative marking of 1/3rd for every wrong answer. Also, RPSC now gives a 5th option on the OMR sheet which you must fill if you are skipping a question!
- Mains Exam: If you pass the prelims, you face the Mains. This stage is completely descriptive and involves 4 papers (General Studies I, II, III, and General Hindi & English). Each paper is of 200 marks (Total 800 marks).
- Interview / Personality Test: Finally, there is an interview round carrying 100 marks. Your final rank is decided by combining your Mains and Interview scores.
